HP Enterprise Acquires Microsoft Azure Cloud Partner RedPixie

Share

HP Enterprise has acquired RedPixie, a Microsoft Azure-focused public cloud consulting, application development and migration services provider. Financial terms were not disclosed.

RedPixie, launched in 2010, "has significant customer traction, with particular strength among leading financial services, insurance and healthcare companies, including KPMG, Hiscox, and Care UK," HPE says.

RedPixie's core Azure Cloud services include:

  • Hybrid cloud
  • Data platform (SQL) migrations
  • Data science and machine learing
  • Cloud Workspace and virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) leveraging Microsoft and Citrix software
  • Cloud application architecture
  • IoT solutions

HPE Pointnext: Digital Consulting Services

It sounds like RedPixie will tuck into HPE Pointnext -- the enterprise giant's IT consulting arm. Pointnext had about 25,000 IT experts who deliver 11,000 projects per year, according to the division's formal launch announcement in March 2017.

The business unit "provides a full spectrum of advisory, integration, migration and operational consulting services to help our customers deploy and manage workloads across their entire IT estate," HPE says. It's big business -- generating $7.16 billion in revenue in 2016, according to the HPE-produced infographic below.

HPE: Computing With IT Consulting Partners?

RedPixie is HPE's second cloud consulting acquisition in recent months. The earlier deal involved Cloud Technology Partners. Read between the lines and HPE needs to tread carefully. As the company continues to build public cloud and hybrid IT consulting expertise, it must avoid channel conflict with partners in those sectors.

It's a safe bet HPE's consulting focus will generate partner chatter at the company's HPE Discover 2018 customer and partner conference in June.
