A. Today’s Tech, Channel and MSP News

1. MSP’s essential stack shifts - PSA (professional services automation) and RMM (remote monitoring and management) have been the top two key platforms for MSPs for years. However, RMM has just been knocked down. What’s replaced it as the second most popular solution in MSP tech stacks? Password Management, according to Kevin Lancaster, CEO of Channel Program, a company that helps MSPs track the tools and vendors they use.

2. Ransomware protection - Data protection and recovery provider Veeam Software launched a new Veeam Cyber Secure Program combining the company’s purpose-built technology with a team of experts to help enterprises prepare for, protect and recover from ransomware. 

3. New channel chief - Kaspersky has named  Luciana Lovato as its Americas channel leader. Lovato previously served as Kaspersky’s channel lead for Brazil. Lovato’s new role includes expanding training opportunities for partners.

4. New channel program - Cybersecurity platform provider Check Point Software has introduced a new channel program. This program enables partners to effectively cross-sell and up-sell Check Point solutions including solutions for SASE, email security, cloud environments, SD-WAN, and mobile security. 

5. Customer satisfaction milestone - Birmingham, Alabama MSP Evolv I.T. closed out 2023 with the highest client satisfaction rating in its eight-year history: 99.8%, CEO Daniel Herrera announced. 

6. Dell, VMware distribution split - Dell Technologies has ended its deal with VMware to distribute its products, saying the deal allows for termination if there is a change in control of either Dell or VMware. The two companies had forged the distribution deal in 2021 when Dell spun off VMware. BroadCom recently completed its acquisition of VMware. Dell disclosed the change in an SEC filing.
