Blumira Adds API, Custom Alerts, and Audit Tools to Ease MSP and IT Workloads

Five security mistakes

Blumira has rolled out a set of practical updates - an API, smarter detection filters, and automated compliance reports - designed to help MSPs and IT teams cut down alert noise, simplify audits, and stay on top of security without burning time they don’t have.

Blumira’s latest release is all about saving time - something most IT teams and MSPs don’t have enough of. The platform now includes a new API, more precise detection filters, and automated compliance reporting tools. It’s a practical update aimed at cutting down alert fatigue, streamlining audits, and making it easier to stay on top of security tasks across multiple environments.

Centralized Security Actions Through API Integration

The newly launched API gives MSPs and IT teams the flexibility to work within the tools they already rely on, whether that’s Microsoft Teams, PSA platforms, or internal dashboards. This reduces context switching and makes sure that security insights from Blumira are available right where techs are already operating.

“This API launch is actually one of our most requested features from MSPs,” said Matt Warner, CEO and co-founder of Blumira. “Most MSPs aren’t working from a single pane of glass. They’re jumping between tools all day to meet client needs. With our API, MSPs can pull Blumira's security insights directly into the tools their techs are already living in, making sure we fit into their workflow rather than changing it.”

One partner has already used the API to sync ticket resolution between systems, avoiding duplicate effort and improving visibility across teams. That kind of practical integration makes it easier to scale services and reduce errors, even under heavy workloads.

Sharper Filtering for Smarter Alerts

Blumira also rolled out expanded detection filters that let users define what really deserves attention. Filters can now include IP ranges, regular expressions, and location-based parameters, helping reduce false positives and focus response efforts.

“We're considering two aspects with these improvements: increased operational efficiency, and improved security effectiveness,” Warner said. “For reducing alert fatigue, our detection filter improvements are designed to let MSPs proactively tune environments to filter out known safe activity from their team before it generates alerts.”

MSPs can now fine-tune detections during onboarding, applying filters based on their standard procedures, rather than waiting for alerts to start piling up. “Hundreds of our MSP partners have created new filters just in the last month,” Warner added. “That level of customization is helping them stay focused on what matters: delivering for their clients, rather than drowning in alert management.”

Automated, Audit-Ready Compliance Reports

Blumira’s new compliance reports are designed to reduce the time and complexity of audit prep. Built-in templates for frameworks like CMMC, HIPAA, SOC 2, NIST, and ISO 27001 allow IT teams to automate report creation and deliver exactly what auditors need, without hours of manual work.

“The short answer is, we differ by making compliance a natural outcome of your daily operations rather than a separate, time-consuming project,” Warner said. “Most platforms still require MSPs to manually collect evidence, interpret requirements, and map their activities to specific controls. We've flipped that approach - our platform automatically captures and organizes the relevant details as you go.”

Reports can be scheduled to run automatically, providing MSPs and IT teams with audit-ready documents right from their inbox. According to Warner, “What really matters isn’t just saving time - it’s confidence. When an auditor asks for evidence of how you're meeting a continuous monitoring requirement, would you rather scramble to figure it out, or pull up a pre-built report that shows exactly what they’re looking for?”

These updates weren’t built to check boxes, but to relieve the real pressure that technical teams face every day. Whether it’s integrating into everyday tools, tuning out noisy alerts, or automating compliance workflows, Blumira’s latest release aims to make security more manageable and more scalable for the teams on the ground.
