Abacus Group has acquired Chicago-based Entara in a move that expands its footprint in managed security and IT services for financial services firms and other regulated industries. The acquisition brings deeper cyber incident response expertise, enhanced automation, and a stronger presence in key U.S. markets.

Entara, an established provider of managed services and security solutions, will strengthen Abacus Group’s ability to deliver layered defense strategies and around-the-clock cyber recovery support. Its experience in working with high-touch, compliance-driven industries aligns closely with Abacus Group’s core client base, which includes hedge funds, private equity firms, and asset managers.

Jonathan Bohrer, President of Abacus Group says, "Entara’s incident response capability expands our cyber offering such that now, we can offer the full lifecycle of cybersecurity protection - from blue team services for detection, prevention, governance, extending through to red team services for penetration testing, risk assessments, social engineering, and now including post-breach response, recovery and forensic analysis."

Leveraging AI through an institutional ITSM like ServiceNow will also enable Abacus to scale service benefits by facilitating data enriched ticket handling, leading to faster resolution times, which is an absolute must for regulated financial firms and their constituents, says Bohrer.

A key addition is Entara’s AI-enabled ServiceNow environment, developed over years of automation-focused innovation. This capability will be integrated into Abacus Group’s broader technology stack, improving service delivery and operational visibility across both legacy and new clients. The result is a more responsive and scalable support model that addresses the speed, precision, and regulatory demands of modern cybersecurity.

The combination also extends the reach of Abacus Group’s abacusFlex platform, a suite of managed IT and security services, into Entara’s customer base. This allows for a seamless transition and continuity of service, while enabling clients to access a broader range of solutions backed by expanded resources and infrastructure.

For Abacus Group, the acquisition supports its continued investment in delivering comprehensive managed services that evolve with clients’ needs. As cybersecurity threats become more sophisticated and regulatory environments more complex, the ability to unify offensive and defensive capabilities under a single provider is becoming increasingly important.

Bohrer emphasizes, "Abacus Group now stands uniquely as the only financial services specialized MSP offering every element of a comprehensive cyber program under one roof.  No other provider delivers all three components outlined above. This significant differentiator alone sets Abacus Group apart, but we pride ourselves in standing out across all aspects of our service delivery."

By bringing Entara into the fold, Abacus Group adds both technical depth and geographic scale, without sacrificing the personal, client-centered approach that has defined both firms. The integration signals a deliberate step forward in delivering flexible, compliant, and operationally mature IT and cybersecurity solutions for firms operating in high-stakes environments.
