5 Channel Partner Updates: Wednesday 25 April 2018

Good morning, channel partners. Here are five technology news updates, insights, chatter, and plenty more to start your day for Wednesday, April 25, 2018.

Actually, there are 14 timely updates designed for VARs, managed services providers (MSPs), cloud services providers (CSPs), independent software vendors (ISVs), telco master agents and telco agents to sip on. Take a look…

14. Multi-Cloud Management: Juniper Networks has expanded its Contrail Enterprise Multicloud software to support end-to-end policy and control capabilities for any workload running in physical and virtual environments, any cloud and across multivendor environments, the company claims.

13. Software-Defined Storage: Red Hat Storage One, which blends hardware-optimized systems and software-defined storage, is now available.

12. HPE Denies Huawei Partnership: HP Enterprise denies that it is partnering with Huawei on SD-WAN solutions. Huawei had claimed earlier this week that a partnership was in place. The U.S. government, meanwhile, has been pushing U.S. companies to avoid Huawei's products over concerns that the company's hardware and software could contain back doors for Chinese government spies. Huawei has repeatedly denied the claims.

11. Partnership - Private Clouds: Rackspace has launched Private Cloud Everywhere, powered by VMware. The Private Cloud as a Service (PCaaS) option allows cloud servers and storage to be in most data centers or colocation facilities around the world, Rackspace says. Just a hunch, but I think we can safely assume Rackspace will connect the PCaaS capabilities to VMware Cloud on AWS.

10. NetSuite & Artificial Intelligence: Oracle NetSuite has unveiled an upgrade cloud suite that features advanced machine learning and artificial intelligence capabilities, the company claims. Oracle acquired NetSuite for its midmarket cloud ERP capabilities in mid-2016.

9. Google vs. Office 365: Google today unveiled its first Gmail redesign since 2013, capping what the company says was an expensive overhaul two years in the making to adopt security and offline functionality and better resemble Microsoft Outlook, Reuters reports.

8. Partnership - Google Cloud Platform: Global IT consulting firm Atos will work with Google Cloud to "bring enterprises new secure business solutions encompassing hybrid Cloud, data analytics & machine learning and the digital workplace," the companies say.

7. Backup and Disaster Recovery: Neverfail's HybriStor secondary storage appliances have achieved Veeam Ready Repository status. MSPs, CSPs and customers can now integrate HybriStor's deduplication and Instant VM Recovery capabilities into their Veeam-enabled DR and Business Continuity (BC) systems, the company says.

3. M&A - Unified Communications: Searchlight Capital Partners has acquired Hosted PBX provider Mitel for $2.0 billion in cash, including Mitel’s net debt. Mitel will become a privately held company. We'll share more thoughts soon.
