Here are five technology news updates, insights, chatter, and plenty more to start your day for Friday, December 21, 2018.

Actually, there are eight timely updates designed for managed services providers (MSPs), cloud services providers (CSPs), IT consulting firms, systems integrators, VARs, independent software vendors (ISVs), telco master agents, and telco agents to sip on. Take a look:

8. Corporate Tech Spending: The forecast doesn't look that great, according to a survey of 100 corporate IT buyers.

7. Talent - Artificial Intelligence: Apple has named John Giannandrea as senior vice president of Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence Strategy. He joined Apple  in April 2018. He previously was senior VP of engineering at Google.

6. Professional Services Automation: Krow Software has upgraded its PSA platform for Salesforce.com, introducing an integration hub for third-party applications; new CRM integrations; improved project forecasting and status reporting; and more.

5. BlackBerry Financial Results: BlackBerry revenues were $228 million in Q3 fiscal 2019, exceeding Wall Street's expectations. The mobile software company is expected to finalize the Cylance buyout in the weeks ahead.

4. M&A - Accenture: The IT consulting firm is acquiring Knowledgent, a data intelligence company. Knowledgent's 200 employees provide data strategy and architecture, data engineering, and data management services. We'll share more details soon.

3. M&A - Data Centers: Digital Realty has completed the previously announced $1.8 billion acquisition of Ascenty, a data center provider in Brazil, from private equity firm Great Hill Partners. The $1.8 billion figure doesn't quite match the earlier $2.25 billion price estimate. We're checking out why...

2. MSPs Hacked: Multiple MSPs, including the service provider arms of IBM and HP Enterprise, were hacked as part of a China-led campaign, according to reports.
