Apple Mac Management, Monitoring for MSPs: The Update

Addigy, the startup RMM (remote monitoring and management) specialist focused on Mac OS, continues to enhance its SaaS platform -- while also aggressively promoting a freemium business model to MSP customers.

Addigy's key components, according to CEO Jason Dettbarn, include:

  • Addigy FREE: A free way for MSPs to assess environments -- providing ongoing asset management & monitoring for free.
  • Addigy Core: Monitor and leverage Addigy's machine management platform for Macs. Dettebarn claims it costs less than rival monitoring tools (see pricing here).
  • Addigy Pro: Addigy's full-featured policy management platform for software deployment, software metering, monitoring remediation, maintenance, OS updates, and a more.

"These models continue to help us grow long-term trust with our customers/partners by charging strictly for license usage (similar to our Amazon AWS services, we charge only for what you use per day).... with simple month-to-month, no contracts, and cancel at anytime terms," Dettbarn says.

Dettbarn certainly sounds upbeat. But plenty of potential competition is emerging. Most RMM providers offer at least some basic support for Mac OS. But new moves are coming, including a SolarWinds N-able update for Mac OS, and LogicNow buying Mac-MSP for additional RMM capabilities.

There were even signs that Pilixo -- launched by former Kaseya CEO Gerald Blackie -- was preparing some Mac OS X management surprise (but I'm not sure if that effort continues).

We'll keep watching to see if Addigy can continue to innovate in the Mac OS X management market.
