Oracle and AWS have taken the next step in their cloud alliance by making Oracle Database@AWS generally available in Northern Virginia and Oregon, reports Channel Futures. This rollout includes Oracle Exadata Database Service and Oracle Autonomous Database running on dedicated infrastructure inside AWS data centers. It’s a tightly integrated offering aimed at customers who want to run Oracle databases closer to their AWS workloads without rebuilding everything from scratch.The service brings zero-ETL integration between Oracle and AWS, allowing users to move and unify their data without complex rewrites. Customers also gain access to Oracle Real Application Clusters and the AI-friendly Oracle Database 23ai, which supports native vector search and other modern app development features. For AWS shops already running Oracle databases, this setup adds flexibility and reduces the operational friction of managing two separate clouds.Oracle says the experience is designed to feel seamless, with coordinated support from both companies and access to the service via AWS Marketplace. It’s positioned as a way to simplify procurement and ongoing management for applications like PeopleSoft, E-Business Suite, and Oracle Enterprise Performance Management, many of which still run on Oracle in large enterprises.The initial launch is just the beginning. Oracle and AWS plan to bring the offering to 20 more AWS regions. That’s a clear signal to enterprise customers that they’re willing to meet them where they are, especially if it means keeping Oracle databases in the mix without pulling workloads entirely into Oracle Cloud Infrastructure.
