F5 Adds AI Assistant and Data Leak Defense to Ease Ops Workload

F5 is layering new AI capabilities into its core application delivery and security platform, aiming to reduce the complexity NetOps, SecOps, and DevOps teams deal with every day, reports CRN. The latest addition is an AI Assistant designed to simplify workflows across F5’s BIG-IP, NGINX One, and Distributed Cloud Services. Rather than stitching ChatGPT into its stack, F5 built its own models to power a natural language interface that spans the full platform.

At the center of the update is support for iRules Code Generation. These customizable traffic control scripts have been powerful but not always approachable. Now, even teams without deep scripting knowledge can generate and manage iRules through simple prompts, cutting down the back-and-forth and making network behavior adjustments more accessible. For partners, this opens the door to offering configuration-as-a-service or simplifying support for their customers running F5 environments.

F5 isn’t stopping at productivity. The company is also rolling out new AI security capabilities via an upgraded AI Gateway. This includes real-time data leakage detection and prevention, targeting one of the growing concerns in enterprise security: how sensitive data moves across AI tools. The new feature can inspect encrypted traffic, spot sensitive data in prompts and responses, and take action based on defined policies. It’s built on technology F5 picked up from its recent LeakSignal acquisition.

F5’s goal with these updates is to give IT teams a clearer line of sight and control, without asking them to jump through more hoops. The AI Assistant is already available, and the new data leakage capabilities are expected later this quarter.
