The move expands Evergreen’s presence across Australia and New Zealand, where it already includes REDD, CT Group, and Lancom Technology. Blackbird IT will continue operating under its own brand and leadership while gaining access to Lyra’s resources and network.Founded in 2007 as LeetGeek, Blackbird IT has grown from a niche Apple integration firm into a full-service managed IT provider with a strong foothold in professional services and compliance-driven industries. Its rebrand in 2016 reflected the company’s evolution while staying grounded in its original values. Blackbird’s consistent recognition in industry rankings and partner programs highlights both its market success and its people-first ethos.The acquisition comes at a time when the Australian MSP sector is seeing steady expansion, fueled by rising demand for cloud, AI, and cybersecurity services. Blackbird’s leadership chose Evergreen after years of acquisition interest from elsewhere, citing alignment in long-term philosophy and commitment to maintaining local culture and independence—qualities often lost in private equity–driven consolidation.Under the new structure, Ben Corbett, a long-time company leader, steps into the CEO role, with founder Richard Stafford continuing to support strategic initiatives. Blackbird IT joins more than 100 companies in Evergreen’s global portfolio, strengthening the group’s reach while preserving what has made the Adelaide-based provider stand out: a balance of community focus, technical depth, and sustainable growth.
