The Global Technology Industry Association has acquired The ASCII Group, bringing the longtime MSP community into GTIA while preserving ASCII’s brand, events and peer-driven model. The deal, announced Sept. 15, will make ASCII members GTIA members at no additional cost and give them access to GTIA research, education, cybersecurity resources and industry events.ASCII will operate as “ASCII, a GTIA Community,” with its existing identity and regional ASCII Edge events remaining intact. Several ASCII leaders are also joining GTIA, including Jerry Koutavas as vice president, Community ASCII; Jessie Devine as director, Industry Partnerships; Jessica Turner as manager, Digital Engagement; and former ASCII CMO Alysia Vetter as director of PR and Communications. GTIA CEO Dan Wensley said the association plans to increase investment in ASCII Edge events and is exploring opportunities to expand the community model internationally. The acquisition builds on years of collaboration between the organizations and comes as GTIA looks to serve a broader range of IT service providers. GTIA said ASCII members will gain access to its member portal, research, team training and education, cybersecurity resources through the GTIA ISAO, and free registration for ChannelCon and GTIA community meetings and events. ASCII Edge events will continue, including upcoming events in Chicago and San Antonio. For MSPs, the immediate impact is more resources without the loss of the ASCII community they already know. Longer term, GTIA plans to use research and education to help members address issues such as AI adoption, governance, pricing, cybersecurity, sales and marketing. Wensley said nearly every ITSP is using AI in some form, but relatively few have formalized the strategy, policies, controls and leadership needed to turn those investments into measurable business results.Source: ChannelPro Network
