5.  California Power Outages: Pacific Gas and Electric Co. (PG&E) has started its first phase of power shutoffs across Northern and Central California, leaving roughly 513,000 customers without power ahead of a forecast high wind event and elevated wildfire dangers, according to local reports. The Public Safety Power Shutoff is expected to impact nearly 800,000 customers across 34 counties, the report says.

6. Layoffs - WeWork: The struggling firm plans to shed about 500 of the roughly 1,500 software engineers, product managers and data scientists employed in the company’s technology division, The Information reports. The job cuts could further dilute WeWork’s identity as a tech company in the real estate industry, the report asserts.

7. IT Service Management: ManageEngine, the enterprise IT management division of Zoho, has upgraded ServiceDesk Plus with new on-premises enterprise service management (ESM) capabilities.

4. Distribution - Security: Tech Data has agreed to distribute security-oriented solutions from Akamai Technologies. The lineup includes Web application firewall protection; accelerated performance of web and mobile applications; and enterprise traffic protection and remote application access.

5. Distribution - Government and ServiceNow: Carahsoft Technology Corp. has agreed to distribute ServiceNow to government clientele in Canada.
