CBTS, a VAR and MSP owned by Cincinnati Bell, is acquiring SunTel Services, a unified communications (UC) solutions provider that has expanded aggressively into IT security. The deal is expected to close within 30 days. Financial terms were not disclosed.
SunTel Services, founded by brothers Gary and Don Jackson in 1986, had 90-plus employees as of mid-2016. The Troy, Michigan-based company has satellite offices in Traverse City, Flint, Grand Rapids and Detroit.
SunTel has more than 1,000 customers and over 2,500 installations. The company's IT services portfolio has expanded to include IP telephony, network application services/virtualization, remote access, wireless design and building access and security integration services.
CBTS, SunTel Priorities
Both Gary and Don Jackson will continue to lead the SunTel organization. They'll also spearhead CBTS’ expansion in the Michigan market, the companies indicated. CBTS already has sales offices in Cleveland, Columbus, Indianapolis and Louisville, the companies added.
CBTS focuses heavily on business continuity, compliance, security, and technology infrastructure. The company holds over 1,900 vendor certifications spread over 35 separate IT vendors.
To negotiate the deal, CBTS and SunTel Services leveraged financial guidance from Stephens Inc. and Quarton International.
