Platte River Networks, the Denver-based MSP that managed Hillary Clinton's email server after she left the State Department in 2013, has declined requests by the Senate Homeland Committee to interview five employees about the security of the system, according to POLITICO.
The email system apparently was backed up by Datto Inc., the business continuity provider that works closely with managed services providers. The twist: Platte won't permit Datto to answer committee questions about its cloud backup of the Clinton emails, according to a separate letter Datto sent the committee.
Amid the Hillary Clinton email controversy, Datto in October sent an open letter to partners -- though it didn't mention Clinton or Platte River by name. The letter, penned by Datto CEO Austin McChord, assured partners that the company will retain their privacy.
Homeland Committee investigators have probing Clinton's decision to manage her own email server while working as Secretary of State. They're also trying to determine how the information was safeguarded.
