Share

Xact Data Discovery (XDD), which provides eDiscovery, data management, and managed review services, has acquired RVM Enterprises  -- another eDiscovery specialist. Financial terms were not disclosed.

This is M&A deal 275 that ChannelE2E has covered so far in 2020. See the complete M&A deal list here.

Both XDD and RVM primarily serve law firms and corporations.

RVM, based in Jersey City, New Jersey, also provides forensics, managed review, and media services.

XDD of Mission, Kansas, has 16 offices throughout the United States and two locations in India.

The deal will allow RVM to expand its presence in the New York and New Jersey corridor on a much larger scale, according to RVM CEO Vincent Brunetti. RVM will conduct business operations from its current New York location, but will operate under the XDD brand, the company said.

Bob Polus, CEO, XDD, commented on the deal:

“Merging forces with RVM further strengthens our service offering in the tristate area. RVM’s drive to provide exemplary service to clients across all phases of the EDRM mirrors XDD’s mission, vision and culture, making it a natural fit for our organization as we continue to expand business operations nationwide.”

David Moran, XDD President and COO, added:

“Having built strong client relationships in the New York and New Jersey markets for multiple years, acquiring RVM enables XDD to quickly expand our physical presence in the region, while scaling business operations for key services in parallel. Mirroring XDD’s current eDiscovery services mix, the enhanced company will be able to provide expanded forensics and managed review services via remote or onsite capacities.”

eDiscovery M&A Plays

eDiscovery stands for “electronic discovery,” a civil litigation process of discovery carried out in electronic formats. This is most often encompassed by electronically stored information, or ESI, according to AIIM .

ESI can include emails, instant messaging chats, documents, accounting databases, CAD/CAM files, web sites, and any other electronic information that could be relevant evidence in a lawsuit. It can also include “raw data” and “metadata,” which forensic investigators can review for hidden evidence, AIIM adds.

M&A activity among legal IT services firms and eDiscovery companies has remained steady. Here's a complete list of deals.
