A case in point: When Autotask launched CSP Boss for Office 365 and Azure billing management earlier this month, ChannelE2E asked if the platform would extend to support Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud Platform and more.
Patrick Burns, VP of product management at Autotask, offered this reply:
"Yes, there are plans to add other cloud suppliers (not just IaaS providers like those listed, but any vendor with cloud solutions that require remote provisioning and monthly metered billing)."
Meanwhile, Kaseya continues to pitch the company's Traverse platform for cloud and network monitoring capabilities. But the company also is mulling additional moves -- including organic R&D and potential acquisitions -- to round out Kaseya's cloud management tools for MSPs, CEO Fred Voccola tells ChannelE2E.
MSP Software Market Shift
As SMBs move workloads and applications to the cloud, MSPs -- and their software providers -- must respond accordingly. Numerous software companies are far along on the journey. Examples include cloud billing and management offerings like ConnectWise CloudConsole and SolarWinds Cloud Monitoring, among others.
Still, a new generation of cloud-centric management and monitoring tool providers has emerged (here are 50 of them). And many MSPs are now trying to extend beyond PC, desktop and mobile management toward Application Performance Management -- a field where upstarts like AppDynamics and New Relic generate considerable buzz.
The safe bet: Watch for MSP software providers to pursue additional "tuck in" acquisitions to round out their own cloud management R&D efforts. Ahem: Keep a particularly close eye on the desktop as a service (DaaS) market...
