7. Up and Comers: CompTIA has recognized three "future leaders" in the IT channel as part of its ChannelChangers program. This year's honorees are Brandon Garcin, senior content strategist, Continuum; Melissa Lyons, global channel programs manager, Sophos; and Heather Ptak, community manager, ConnectWise. Now in its fourth year, the CompTIA ChannelChangers program recognizes young professionals under the age of 30 who are making their mark within a CompTIA member company by demonstrating success or originality as an entrepreneur, or have made an industry impact in some other way.
6. Digital Privacy Rankings: AT&T, Verizon and other telco providers lag behind the overall tech industry in protecting users from government overreach and privacy issues, according to the Electronic Frontier Foundation's seventh annual Who Has Your Back report.
5. PC Market Share: HP Inc. has overtaken Lenovo as the world's No. 1 PC supplier, according to Gartner's Q2 2017 sales estimates. Lenovo had held the crown for four years.
