Whenever somebody tells me that the American Dream has died, I typically point them to the annual Inc. 5000 list -- which tracks America's fastest-growing privately held companies. No doubt, the economy hasn't been kind to many business owners over the past decade. But the Inc. 5000 list proves that growth startups are alive and well -- including IT services providers.

Plow through the Inc. 5000 list and you can sort companies according to their areas of specialty. More than 100 IT services providers, for instance, are on the list. Many of them don't fit into the classic VAR or MSP definition. And you won't see classic "PC and server monitoring" attributes on this list.

Instead, these are next-generation IT services providers focused on all types of big data, IoT, cloud, security and managed services. Based on the Inc. 5000 list, here are the 10 fastest growing, privately held ITSP companies in America for 2016.
