Data Systems Technology Solutions is an MSP and sister company of Data Systems -- which has offered software support and services to credit unions since 1982, and the company's roots stretch back to 1974.

Unicom supports financial services firms with IT equipment and services across hardware, software, and network inter-connectivity issues.

Together, Data Systems Technology Solutions and Unicom plan to support credit unions, local and regional banks in Texas and the Southwest United States. Headcount and revenue figures for the combined businesses were not disclosed.

Brian Hoppe, CIO of Data Systems, is now president of Unicom, and will oversee the day-to-day operations of its Waco, Houston, and Dallas offices.

In a prepared statement, Hoppe said:

“The knowledge and experience that the Unicom team brings to our family in compliance and strategy will help not only our current customers but future ones as well. We are extremely excited to have Unicom as part of our team!”

Meanwhile, M&A activity across the MSP market has remained strong this year. Continuum CEO Michael George has predicted continued MSP market consolidation-- with 20 percent of U.S. MSPs ultimately grabbing 80 percent of the managed services revenues within the two to three years or so. On a somewhat related note, most of the major MSP technology providers have added M&A-type content to their conference agendas.
