MSP360 Rolls Out Free RMM Community Edition for Emerging MSPs

IT management

Starting a managed services business usually means big upfront expenses. The search for dependable tools that won’t eat into a fragile early budget can feel endless. MSP360 wants to ease that pain with the launch of MSP360 RMM Community Edition, a free remote monitoring and management platform designed to give new MSPs a solid foundation without immediate financial strain.

Lowering the Barrier for Entry

New MSPs frequently juggle tight resources while trying to establish their first clients. Licensing fees for IT management platforms can delay growth or force compromises on service quality. MSP360’s Community Edition eliminates this barrier by providing a full-featured RMM toolset that can be used indefinitely until a provider surpasses 50 managed endpoints.

Oleg Sapon, vice president of product management at MSP360, explained to ChannelE2E: "What makes Community Edition different is that we’re not offering a stripped-down or limited tool. New MSPs get the same professional-grade monitoring, patching, remote access, and alerting capabilities that larger providers rely on - but without the upfront financial hurdle. The idea is simple: Help MSPs prove out their business model and gain confidence with their first customers. Once they grow beyond 50 endpoints, we’ve built an upgrade path that scales with them. By that point, they have recurring revenue coming in and can invest in a paid plan without friction. In other words, we grow with them - from launch through expansion.”

The Community Edition isn’t a trial or teaser version. It delivers the same essential capabilities MSPs need to run operations efficiently, including system health monitoring across Windows, Mac, and Linux; remote access for troubleshooting and support; software deployment for consistent rollouts; patch management to keep environments secure; and configurable alerting to stay ahead of issues.

Challenging Traditional Pricing Models

Some in the industry may question how offering full RMM features for free impacts pricing expectations. According to Sapon, that’s by design.

Sapon emphasizes, "We expect it will challenge some traditional pricing assumptions, and frankly, that’s intentional. Too many skilled IT professionals struggle to launch their MSP business due to the high initial costs. By lowering that barrier, we’re opening the door to more providers, which benefits the entire ecosystem. Established MSPs shouldn’t feel threatened. The Community Edition isn’t aimed at them - it’s designed for startups that need help landing their first clients. Larger providers already exceed the 50-endpoint mark, so they’ll continue with our paid tiers or other enterprise offerings. In fact, many established MSPs see this as positive because it strengthens the overall market and talent pool.”

Scalable Path to Growth

When MSPs outgrow the free tier, they can transition to a paid plan with pricing designed to scale alongside business expansion. The idea is to give new providers a runway to establish themselves, build a client base, and only invest further when demand requires it.

MSP360 will be measuring the program’s success closely. Sapon outlined the key metrics: "We’ll be watching three main areas. First is adoption - how many MSPs are signing up and actively using Community Edition. Second is engagement - are they really using the key features like patch management, group actions, and remote access, and how many endpoints are under management. The third and most important is growth. We’ll measure how many users move past the 50-endpoint threshold and transition into paid tiers. Beyond the numbers, we’ll also listen closely to customer feedback to see if Community Edition is truly helping them acquire clients and build sustainable businesses. Those signals will tell us if we’re delivering on our mission to make MSP launches more achievable.”

RMM tools are foundational for managed services, but they’re often out of reach for early-stage providers. By offering a free, unrestricted edition, MSP360 is positioning itself as a partner in helping MSPs launch, stabilize, and eventually scale their operations.
