We're past the halfway mark of 2024, which means there's lots of recently released research analyzing the first half and predicting what we can expect in the next six months. One such report from cyber insurance technology company Flow examines the cyber insurance market, trends and predictions.
In other research news, Fortinet's FortiGuard Labs examined the cybersecurity threat landscape around the Paris Olympics, and discovered a number of phishing kits and exploits trying to take advantage of interest in the event.
Elsewhere, cybersecurity and cloud services firm Neovera acquired Emagined Security, Barracuda and AWS expand their strategic partnership and Jay Ryerse has taken on a role at SentinelOne after a four-year tenure at ConnectWise.

1. ConnectWise's Jay Ryerse Joins SentinelOne: In a short LinkedIn post, channel sales veteran Jay Ryerse announced he's joined SentinelOne. Ryerse was previously vice president of global security sales at ConnectWise and before that served as CTO of security products at Continuum Managed Services.
2. Fortinet Research Highlights Paris Olympics Cybersecurity Threats: Fortinet's FortiGuard Labs this week released a new report exploring the cybersecurity threat landscape for the 2024 Paris Olympics. Starting in the second half of 2023 and continuing through the first half of 2024, there's been a surge of darknet activity targeting France, the report found. The report also found increased activity around stolen PII, ads for phishing kits and exploit tools customized for the Paris Olympics and hacktivist activity spiking, including from pro-Russian groups. There's also been a significant number of typosquatting domains registered, the report noted. Check it out here.
3. Neovera Acquires Emagined Security: Neovera, a cybersecurity and cloud services provider, has acquired Emagined Security, an information security professional services solutions provider for highly regulated industries. The deal will help Neovera to extend its current SOC operations and add to its existing capabilities in penetration testing, vulnerability assessments and management, threat intelligence and security operations consulting, the companies said. The move builds on Neovera’s recent acquisition of 10-D Security and AppliedCS and expands the company’s reach to over 500 clients worldwide. Neovera was founded two decades ago, is backed by 424 Capital, and provides full-service, managed cloud and cybersecurity offerings to global enterprises, according to a statement from the companies.
4. Barracuda, AWS Expand Strategic Partnership: Cloud security firm Barracuda Networks, Inc. has signed a strategic collaboration agreement (SCA) with Amazon Web Services (AWS). While Barracuda’s application security, network security, email security and data protection solutions are already available within AWS Marketplace, this SCA will help provide new flexibility and simplicity for Barracuda’s customers in licensing, procurement, and deployment, according to a statement from the company. It includes significant investments in marketing development funds, proof of concept funding and Independent Software Vendor (ISV) workload migration funding. The SCA also enables Barracuda to leverage its partner-only focus and the wide range of Barracuda security solutions available in AWS Marketplace to help resellers and managed service providers (MSPs) accelerate their customers’ migration to the cloud.
5. Flow Releases Mid-Year State of Cyber Insurance Report: Cyber insurance technology firm Flow released its Cyber Insurance Mid-Year State of the Market Report this week. The report breaks down the cyber insurance market landscape in the first half of 2024, the cybersecurity threat landscape, breach patterns and identifies some of the more prolific cyberattackers and common attack vectors. It also covers trends, coverage considerations and offers a peek into the next few quarters.
