Happy Friday, folks!

Overnight, a CrowdStrike update took down banks, airlines, media and many more businesses around the world. Today’s Tech, Channel and MSP News

1.CrowdStrike Glitch Takes Down Businesses: Overnight, a CrowdStrike update threw Windows machines into a blue screen of death (BSOD) loop and took down banks, airlines, media and many more businesses around the world. As SC Magazine originally reported, a faulty update from CrowdStrike, which is used to secure Windows PCs and servers, knocked affected PCs and servers offline, forcing them into a recovery boot loop so machines can’t start properly. It seems the company has fixed the glitch, but machines that were already impacted will have to be fixed by companies' individual IT admins. Safe to say it won't be a good weekend for those folks.

2. TD SYNNEX Launches Data management Partnership With NetApp: IT distributor TD SYNNEX launched a new program aimed at supporting the growth of NetApp partners, the company said in a statement. The initiative, open to both existing and new NetApp partners, offers exclusive resources and benefits to help businesses develop their data management solutions offerings. The distie said that its new program is designed to equip NetApp partners with the tools and knowledge needed to address the complex data management needs that arise when ingesting, processing and storing data from multiple disparate sources.

3. ScienceLogic Introduces Skylar AI for IT Automation: Automated IT ops solutions firm ScienceLogic has launched Skylar AI, which delivers predictions, tailored recommendations and intelligent automations to help make IT operations more efficient, the company said in a statement. Skylar AI uses generative AI and unsupervised machine learning combined with human-in-the-loop automation training models to automate complex troubleshooting and IT admin tasks.

4. Netskope Reasearch Shows GenAI Data Vulnerability: Netskope research released this week revealed that regulated data -- the data that organizations have a duty to protect -- makes up more than a third of the sensitive data being shared with generative AI applications. That creates a big risk in the event of a data breach. The Netskope Threat Labs research revealed three-quarters of businesses surveyed now completely block at least one generative AI app to limit the risk of sensitive data exfiltration. However, with fewer than half of organizations applying data-centric controls to prevent sensitive information from being shared in input inquiries, most are behind in adopting the advanced data loss prevention (DLP) solutions needed to safely enable generative AI.

5. DataStrike Names Carlo Finotti New SVP of Service Delivery: Data infrastructure services provider DataStrike this week appointed Carlo Finotti as its senior vice president of service delivery. A former client-side CIO and COO, Finotti will define the strategic vision for DataStrike's services offerings and technology innovation and build the team responsible for delivering those services to the company's 200+ clients. DataStrike is the largest onshore provider of data infrastructure services for small- and mid-sized businesses (SMBs). Its end-to-end portfolio includes data management, cloud, enterprise application management and analytics, the company said. Congratulations!
