A. Today’s Tech, Channel and MSP News

1. New data center boss - Data center operator Equinix named Alphabet's Google Cloud executive Adaire Fox-Martin as its CEO, with the appointment effective late next quarter. Fox-Martin, who has been on Equinix's board since 2020, will succeed the company's current Chief Executive Officer Charles Meyers. Martin has been at Google Cloud for three years and has also held global positions at software companies such as SAP and Oracle. Meyers will transition to the role of executive chair after six years at the helm. 

2. Better macOS cybersecurity - Extended detection and response (XDR) provider Trellix has released new macOS Trellix Data Loss Prevention Endpoint Complete capabilities to better secure sensitive and proprietary information from accidental or intentional exposure. The capabilities will help organizations protect against critical data leakage via Outlook email, prevent sensitive documents from being printed or transferred by AirDrop, and block file uploads in Chrome, Edge, and Safari..

3. New Zealand acquisition - GreenBox Group, an e-waste management company, has acquired RemarkIT, an IT waste and managed/professional services company. The integration expands GreenBox's footprint in New Zealand by including the established operations of RemarkIT, a market leader in the sustainable life cycle management of technology assets.

4. MSP PE platform investment - Private equity firm Coniston Capital has completed an investment in Equity Networks, an IT managed service provider to fund the MSP’s acquisition strategy. Equity Networks was founded in 2011 and offers four key services: managed cloud applications, including the implementation and maintenance of platforms like Office365; managed cloud infrastructure; managed security of data; and managed communications, primarily internet connectivity.

5. Patch Tuesday - Microsoft has patched two critical-severity Hyper-V flaws and an open Management Infrastructure (OMI) flaw as part of a patch Tuesday that addressed 60 vulnerabilities. The patch count was relatively low and did not include any actively exploited vulnerabilities, according to Microsoft. (source: SCmagazine)
