Dell is officially ending all hybrid and remote work, according to an email sent today, Business Insider reports.
CEO Michael Dell said in the email that, starting in March, the company would expect all employees that live within an hour of a Dell office to be on-site five days a week. The Dell CEO's net worth is $117 billion, Business Insider said.
Dell is the latest in a list of companies and organizations forcing an end to remote work, including Amazon, AT&T, and, as recently as this week, the U.S. federal government. Dell last year informed remote employees that they would no longer be eligible for promotion if they remained remote.
In the short term, this strategy might improve productivity, revenue, and profits, but in the long term, I don't see this going well. Companies without a remote work option risk losing top talent to more nimble, flexible and innovative rivals, which bodes ill in the long term.

3. Threat actors exploiting SimpleHelp RMM: In a LinkedIn post, ConnectWise noted that security researchers have identified active exploitation of vulnerabilities in SimpleHelp's Remote Monitoring and Management (RMM) software. The flaws, tracked as CVE-2024-57726, CVE-2024-57727, and CVE-2024-57728, enable threat actors to transfer files, execute commands remotely, and escalate privileges within affected networks, according to the research. SimpleHelp released security updates between January 8 and 13, 2025 addressing these issues. However, within a week of public disclosure, threat actors began leveraging these vulnerabilities in targeted attacks. Patch now!
4. Tyler Technologies acquires MyGov: Tyler Technologies, Inc. has acquired MyGov LLC, a company offering cloud-based software with an integrated platform for managing and streamlining permitting, inspections, planning, and zoning. 5. U.S. DOJ sues to block HPE-Juniper deal: The U.S. Department of Justice this week filed a lawsuit to block Hewlett-Packard Enterprise's $14 billion acquisition of Juniper Networks. The Justice Department’s complaint, filed in the Northern District of California, alleged that the acquisition would “eliminate fierce head-to-head competition between the companies, raise prices, reduce innovation, and diminish choice for scores of American businesses and institutions, in violation of Section 7 of the Clayton Act." The DOJ argued that the deal would further consolidate the market and force U.S. businesses to rely on either the post-merger HPE-Juniper or Cisco.
