Apollo Buyout of Tech Data: No More Rival Bidders Emerge

Share

Apollo Global Management's $6 billion buyout of Tech Data appears on-track to close sometime in the first half of 2020.

Tech Data's go-shop period, which allowed the distributor to solicit additional takeover bids, expired on December 9. One rival bidder -- namely, Berkshire Hathaway -- emerged in late November. However, Apollo quickly countered that bid ahead of the U.S. Thanksgiving Holiday to secure its place as Tech Data's next owner.

The Apollo-Tech Data deal still needs various regulatory approvals, but those are expected to arrive by the first half of 2020.
