Dell Software, Ingram Micro Partner for Government Push

Tony Vottima

Ingram Micro and Dell are expanding their distribution relationship. The latest move involves Ingram and Dell Software empowering federal government channel partners.

Indeed, Dell Software is now part of the Ingram Micro Federal Advantage program. Moreover, Dell Software's products have been added to Ingram Micro’s wholly owned company, Promark Technology’s  General Services Administration (GSA) schedule.

"We already have a significant business relationship with Dell on the commercial side," said Tony Vottima, executive director, Ingram Micro Vertical Markets. "This is a big opportunity to expand our Dell relationship, and a big opportunity for our partners."

By connecting the dots between Dell Software, Ingram's government expertise and Promark's GSA schedule, Ingram will help partners to "close more business even faster, with even more support," Vottima added.

To fuel the effort, Ingram Micro has a team of more than 30 sales, marketing, and engineering specialists dedicated to Dell's solutions. To learn more about the Ingram Micro Federal Advantage Program, partners can download the Ingram Micro Federal Playbook.

This is Dell's second channel-friendly software move of the day. In the other, Dell Software confirmed a licensing deal with NinjaMSP -- an emerging provider of RMM (remote monitoring and management) and network management software for MSPs.

Dell: Remaining Focused

Amid Dell's $67 billion buyout of EMC, the two companies are working overtime to remain focused on partners and customers. Michael Dell has promised a range of Dell-EMC partner synergies once the deal closes -- though some EMC and VMware investors continue to push back against the buyout.

On the partner front, the channel chiefs from Dell, EMC and VMware each have assured partners that the channel remains a core priority. And just yesterday, Michael Dell reinforced the company's commitment to competing and cooperating in the market -- ensuring that VCE, for instance, will still partner with Cisco Systems.

Dell has also shown continued focus on its distribution relationships. For instance, Ingram has been awarded the Dell Distributor of the Year award two years in a row.
