Google has hired SAP veteran Robert Enslin to succeed Paul-Henri Ferrand as president of Global Customer Operations for Cloud. Ferrand is shifting to another role in the company.
Enslin's jump from SAP to Google Cloud Platform (GCP) reinforces two trends in the market: SAP is experiencing executive turnover amid its cloud journey, while Google has been busy hiring brand name executives from high-profile enterprise technology companies.

- Google Cloud in March 2019 hired Oracle veteran Amit Zavery as VP of engineering to drive the Apigee cross-cloud API developer push, Reuters reports. It was a dramatic move, considering Zavery spent nearly 25 years at Oracle.
- Google Cloud CEO Diane Greene stepped down and was succeeded by former Oracle President Thomas Kurian in early 2019.
- SAP disclosed Enslin's departure on April 5, 2019. Multiple SAP executives have exited the company in recent months. Some of the positions apparently were eliminated amid a company reorganization, though some departing executives apparently rejoined the company in recent days.
Google Cloud Platform: Multi- And Hybrid-Cloud Strategy
Enslin joins Google only a few days after the company wrapped up its major Google Cloud Next 2019 conference. That conference featured the Anthos strategy launch.
The overall strategy calls for Google's cloud technologies to run on third-party clouds and on-premises.
