MSPs Face Tool Sprawl, Burnout, and AI Gaps: Auvik Report Breaks It Down

The latest report from Auvik doesn’t try to sugarcoat it - MSPs are stretched thin. Between keeping up with client demands and managing their own tech stacks, many are struggling to stay efficient, according to Channel Futures. Half of those surveyed said they’re juggling 10 or more tools just to monitor client networks. It’s not just inefficient; it’s costly, messy, and exhausting. Server monitoring is a big culprit here, and a lack of real-time visibility only adds to the pressure.

That pressure is showing up in the workforce. Sixty percent of IT pros reported moderate to severe burnout. Nearly half said they’re so overburdened they can’t be productive. These aren’t people slacking off, they’re stuck in reactive mode with no breathing room. Upskilling sounds good on paper, but 78% said they don’t have time to pursue it. Stress and workload are eating into their ability to grow, even if they want to.

There’s also a growing gap in how MSPs are handling AI. A third said they don’t have clear or complete AI policies in place, which opens the door for forward-thinking providers to step in. Helping clients develop or refine AI governance can be a value-add and a differentiator. It’s also a way to keep things in check as shadow AI usage continues to rise under the radar.

The bottom line? MSPs need to streamline their toolsets, rethink how they support employee growth, and take a harder look at how automation and AI can reduce the daily grind. Auvik’s five recommendations boil down to this: simplify what you can, support remote and hybrid users, prioritize rest and training, and prepare now if you want a slice of growing IT budgets.
