Dutch independent hosting provider TransIP has acquired IT-Ernity, which provides business-critical managed services and shared hosting for small to midsize enterprises in the Netherlands. The seller was private equity firm VSS. Financial terms were not disclosed.
IT-Ernity, founded in 2002, offers a catalog of standardized fully-managed solutions including system administration, protection, security, application management, and other outsourced services. VSS invested in the firm in 2013. IT-Ernity grew organically and through 14 acquisitions since that time. IT-Erinty buyouts during VSS's ownership period included CloudVPS, a cloud infrastructure provider in the Netherlands, and Signet, a provider of connectivity, networking, and VoIP services.
Now, TransIP will carry IT-Ernity forward. TransIP sees the acquisition as a way to help expand its position in the Dutch national IT market and internationally through Europe, according to local media reports. With this deal, TrandIP now has 210 employees. It will add 60,000 customers, bringing its total customer count to around 400,000. The company will also add 20,000 managed servers.
The IT-Ernity acquisition also includes web hosting and domain names (VDX, Web plug, DDS & TransIP), managed & IT solutions (Proserve), and cloud & infrastructure solutions (TransIP BladeVPS). TransIP says these names will help strengthen its portfolio and presence in the region.
