AI dominated much of the conversation at MSP Summit 2026, but speakers repeatedly returned to a more fundamental lesson: MSPs need to sell business outcomes, not technology. Megan Killion of Pisces Growth Consulting argued that strategic value requires a defined buyer, workflow and outcome, while AI should remain the enabling technology rather than the value proposition. PartnerOptimizer research reinforced the opportunity for MSPs to differentiate by clearly communicating services customers already value, including endpoint management.
That same outcome-first approach applies when building AI services. Pax8’s Chance Weaver said roughly 80% of situations his team encounters can be addressed with capabilities such as automation or business intelligence rather than AI alone. Speakers from AKATI Sekurity and New Charter encouraged MSPs to begin with discovery and readiness assessments before moving into implementation and recurring monitoring. Providers also need to watch profitability: CloudBlue warned that untracked AI consumption and token costs can quickly erode margins.
For MSPs, the takeaway is to start with the client problem and work backward to the technology. AI can create capacity, automate reporting and support new services, but the bigger opportunity comes from translating those efficiencies into measurable client outcomes. MSPs that can demonstrate how they reduce risk, eliminate bottlenecks or enable growth will have a stronger case for higher-value services—and a clearer reason for clients to keep paying for them.
