Convergint has acquired A+ Technology & Security Solutions, a Bay Shore, New York-based security integrator with more than 30 years of experience serving Long Island and the wider Northeastern market. The acquisition extends Convergint’s presence in the region while sharpening its focus on public sector security, particularly in K-12 education, higher education, law enforcement, municipalities, and government agencies.

A+ Technology & Security Solutions has built a reputation for delivering end-to-end physical security services, from design and installation to long-term support. The company’s open-standards approach gives customers the flexibility to integrate with existing infrastructure and scale without being tied to proprietary systems. That model is especially valuable for public entities navigating tight budgets, complex procurement requirements, and the need for interoperability between multiple agencies.

By bringing the A+ Technology & Security team into its operations, Convergint gains specialized expertise in video management, access control, virtual guarding, visitor management, and panic and lockdown systems. These capabilities align with growing demand for layered, integrated security strategies that combine physical safeguards with intelligent management platforms.

Additionally, the integration of A+ Technology & Security Solutions’ open-standards approach creates new partnership or reseller opportunities for Convergint’s channel ecosystem in the public sector.

Sean Flint, president of Americas, Convergint told ChannelE2E, "A+ Technology & Security Solutions’ open-standards approach aligns perfectly with Convergint’s commitment to a broad range of technology partners, further expanding opportunities in partner relationships, joint solution development, and cross-training partnership programs. Open solutions can more easily integrate partner technologies into public-sector projects, increasing the number and scope of collaborative bids."

Local expertise from A+ Technology & Security Solutions also expands Convergint’s regional partner network and driving joint bids on public sector contracts in the Northeast. Flint says, "A+ Technology & Security Solutions brings decades of trusted relationships with public-sector entities in the Northeast, along with deep knowledge of local procurement processes, compliance requirements, and funding cycles. This further deepens Convergint’s relationships within its local partner networks for competitive public-sector tenders."

Reflecting Broader Security Industry Trends

This deal reflects a clear shift in the security market toward open-architecture systems that can keep pace with changing technology and evolving threats. Public sector buyers are looking for interoperability, predictable lifecycle costs, and the flexibility to upgrade without replacing entire systems. Integrators that can deliver on those needs, while keeping strong local ties, are in the best position to secure long-term contracts.

It also shows how physical and digital security are coming together. More organizations want unified platforms that tie video surveillance, access control, and incident management into one environment. Being able to design, deliver, and service those kinds of integrated solutions is becoming a real differentiator. For Convergint, pairing national resources with local market expertise puts it in a strong spot to handle complex, multi-site security projects across the Northeast.
