AWS Control Tower: Partners Gain Multi-Account Cloud Management Tool

Amazon has unveiled AWS Control Tower, a software tool that allows MSPs, partners and customers to set up and govern a multi-account Amazon Web Services environment. Early adopters include Slalom Consulting, a well-known IT consulting firm, the companies say.

AWS Control Tower, a cloud-based management tool, may help partners and customers to avoid cloud configuration errors that have caused numerous accidental AWS data leaks over the past few years, ChannelE2E believes.

AWS Control Tower: Cloud Management Features and Capabilities

AWS Control Tower, the company says, gives partners and customers:

  • An automated landing zone that features a pre-configured environment built according to AWS best-practices;
  • a pre-packaged set of guardrails with clearly defined rules for security, operations, and compliance – that provide ongoing governance;
  • the ability to provision accounts and workloads according to industry and AWS standards for identity, federated access, and account structure; and
  • the ability to deploy their new multi-account environment with just a few clicks in the AWS Management Console.

AWS Control Tower is not to be confused with existing management and governance services -- such as AWS Organizations and AWS Config. Those two offerings give customers granular control over their environments, but many organizations also want more prescriptive guidance and help setting up a secure environment spanning many accounts, the cloud services giant asserts.

AWS re:Inforce 2019: Cybersecurity Conference News

AWS Control Tower surfaced amid the AWS re:Inforce 2019 cybersecurity conference this week in Boston -- where scores of companies are announcing various MSSP, managed detection and response (MDR), compliance, and governance offerings for the public cloud platform.
