Salesforce may once again be in talks to acquire data management company Informatica, but this time it’s not alone, reports CRN. According to recent reports, Cloud Software Group (CSG)—the parent company of Citrix—has also expressed interest in Informatica, signaling possible competition for the Redwood City-based firm. A Salesforce deal could be announced as soon as next week, depending on how negotiations unfold. This isn’t the first time Salesforce has pursued Informatica. Talks between the two reportedly collapsed last August over deal terms, despite a proposal estimated at $11 billion. Informatica, which currently holds a market capitalization of around $6.8 billion, has since posted solid growth in its cloud subscription ARR and total revenues, making it a potentially more attractive acquisition target in 2025.Salesforce’s interest comes as it continues expanding its AI and data management capabilities. The company recently announced plans to acquire London-based AI startup Convergence.ai to support its Agentforce platform. It has also significantly grown its partner network, with a notable uptick in consulting partners over the past year. These moves underscore Salesforce’s broader push to deepen its enterprise AI and data integration offerings.Meanwhile, Cloud Software Group has also been making strategic moves, including the acquisition of Germany’s Unicon earlier this year. Backed by Vista Equity Partners, which recently raised $4 billion for CSG, the firm could have both the resources and motivation to outbid Salesforce. Informatica’s rising stock price following the news reflects growing investor interest as this potential acquisition plays out.
