A. Today’s Tech, Channel and MSP News

1. Veeam scores Navy deal - Data protection and ransomware recovery company Veeam Software has won an award  of a $5 million contract with follow on options resulting in a total value of $21 million to provide data backup and recovery software to the U.S. Navy.

2. Executive moves - Last month cloud commerce marketplace Pax8 named Robert Belgrave as Chief Operating Officer (COO) and Elizabeth (Libby) McIlhany as Chief Product Officer (CPO). Belgrave will continue reporting to John Street, Chief Executive Officer (CEO), and McIlhany to Scott Chasin, Chief Technology Officer (CTO).

3. The state of Upstack - Digital infrastructure advisory platform, Upstack, grew its client base to 6,500 from 6,000 last year. In addition the company said it now has $550 million in tech spend under management, up from $400 million last year. The numbers are part of the company’s annual report. 4. Halcyon adds director - Former SentinelOne and Cylance executive and current CrowdStrike advisor, Nicholas Warner, has joined  Halcyon’s board of directors. Halcyon describes itself as an anti-ransomware platform company. Halcyon closed a $40 million series B round with Bain Capital in December 2023.

5. MSP program launch - Backup-as-a-service for Microsoft 365 provider Alcion is launching an MSP partner program. The company said the program comes on the heels of increased demand as more organizations migrate from on-premises solutions to Microsoft 365 and require a new kind of cyber resilience.
