Managed service providers (MSPs) provide many important technology services for their SMB customers, but none is arguably more important today than helping SMB customers protect their business-critical IT systems from cybersecurity threats and attacks.
Interestingly, more and more MSPs -- as opposed to just MSSPs -- are now being asked to add or include cybersecurity services in their offerings to customers, making this a major and intriguing trend we have seen lately.
This will certainly be a recurring theme at next week’s RSA Conference 2024 in San Francisco from May 6-9 as security vendors, experts, and attendees dive deeply into the complex world of keeping companies safe amid a landscape filled with attackers, ransomware, vulnerabilities, bad actors, and emerging new threat vectors. The RSA security conference, one of the largest cybersecurity events in the industry, will provide a stage for MSPs to share with customers about their latest innovations, services, and products that can be used to bolster their defenses.
Here are some of the most interesting pre-RSA news announcements gathered by ChannelE2E so far:
- SonicWall will show off its new cybersecurity management platform, called the SonicPlatform, which will give MSPs and MSSPs (managed security service providers) additional tools and services to help protect the IT systems of their customers. The SonicPlatform will be the company’s latest offering to extend its growing cybersecurity product portfolio. The SonicPlatform is designed to unify SonicWall products into a single integrated interface that focuses on streamlining management tasks while delivering deep product integration aimed at sharing contextual information for customers. SonicPlatform aims to provide unified management and oversight for cloud-based and on-premises infrastructure, while adding other needed services including endpoint security, wireless access, cloud email security, threat intelligence, as well as security service edge (SSE), zero-trust network access (ZTNA), managed security services, and managed detection and response (MDR) capabilities.
- Absolute Security will demonstrate new features and upgrades in its Absolute Cyber Resilience Platform at RSA, including an Absolute Compliance Module that allows customers to integrate security policies into network access and endpoint security controls to only permit compliant and fully secured devices to connect to corporate networks, data, and resources. In addition, Absolute will unveil its Connector for Forescout eyeSight to incorporate comply-to-connect, zero trust capabilities to further protect networks and data from unauthorized and non-compliant access. New tools that can remotely isolate devices when threats are detected and remotely restore devices that have been impacted by ransomware or other attacks will also be unveiled. For MSPs and MSSPs, Absolute will also announce that it is adding Syxsense endpoint and vulnerability platform capabilities into the Absolute Persistence-as-a-Service (APaaS) partner program, while also adding Absolute into the ConnectWise Invent partner program, making it easier for MSPs and MSSPs to extend Absolute cyber resilience capabilities to their security and compliance platforms.
- Stellar Cyber will preview its new generative AI-powered Open XDR Investigator offering, which aims to help companies streamline their threat-hunting processes and better protect the cybersecurity of their IT systems and operations. Stellar Cyber’s Open XDR Investigator is designed to increase the productivity and effectiveness of MSSP and enterprise security teams, giving them valuable new capabilities that can dramatically bolster their threat investigations and threat hunting. Open XDR investigator is built to allow security analysts to ask simple questions that can generate answers through the platform, instead of requiring them to perform such tasks using query commands or crafting complex playbooks. Open XDR is designed to allow security teams to gain more insights more quickly while using simple language requests rather than complex coding.
- Cybersecurity vendor Lumu will unveil its Lumu Autopilot technology at RSA to bring new tools to MSPs that can help them deliver autonomous incident management to customers. Lumu Autopilot can act automatically using AI-powered decision-making together with extensive information from networks and from integrated cybersecurity products that are also being used by companies for cyber protection. Lumu Autopilot includes broad knowledge of threats and best practice playbooks to identify and stop relevant threats. Incidents detected by Lumu Autopilot can be escalated to human analysts who can use the collected information on immediate action items, best practices, and individual endpoints to take manual action, if needed.
- Blumira will unveil several new cybersecurity offerings and features at RSA, including a 30-day trial version of its Blumira Extended Detection and Response (XDR) platform, which gives IT teams full access to evaluate the platform, including endpoint visibility and response, real-time actionable alerts, and investigations. Blumira’s XDR platform is designed for use by MSPs for their SMB customers, giving smaller organizations the ability to gain deeper insights and automated responses to help solve their cybersecurity challenges without having dedicated IT security workers or infrastructure. A new feature, Blumira Investigate, gives customers easy-to-use search capabilities that show all events related to security incidents, which speeds up investigation and response efforts. Also new are expanded SAML Single Sign-On (SSO) options, allowing easier authentication of users via their preferred identity provider, including Duo Security, Okta, Google and Microsoft.
