Barracuda Unveils NextGen Firewall, Backup Appliance Services for MSPs

Barracuda Networks has launched NextGen Firewall and Backup Appliance professional services for MSPs. The new professional services are designed to help MSPs streamline security and data protection, the company indicated.

The NextGen Firewall service enables MSPs to provide advanced threat protection, intrusion detection and prevention, traffic optimization and other firewall capabilities to customers, according to Barracuda. It works in combination with the Barracuda NextGen Firewall – Intronis MSP Edition security solution and offers 24/7/365 security event management, Barracuda said.

In addition, the NextGen Firewall service provides MSPs with notifications of qualified threats and remediation, along with alerts about communication disruptions from on-site equipment, the company indicated.

It offers "flexible backup for both on-premises and cloud deployments, faster recovery times and image and file replication to a secondary appliance or to the Barracuda Cloud for off-site protection," Barracuda noted.

Also, the Backup Appliance service allows service technicians to monitor backups on a 24/7/365 basis, Barracuda said.

Barracuda Adds Intronis MSPs, Cloud Security Customers

Barracuda has been blurring the line between backup and securty -- particularly in the MSP sector. The company added 690 MSPs and 1,000 cloud security customers to its ecosystem in fiscal year 2017, CEO BJ Jenkins said earlier this year.

Moreover, Barracuda recently introduced several initiatives to support its MSP and cloud security customers, including:

  • "Cloud Ready" Program: Enables customers with various Barracuda Web Application Firewall or Barracuda NextGen Firewall hardware products to receive a cloud license to deploy the same solution in Amazon Web Services and Microsoft Azure at no additional cost.
  • Barracuda Vulnerability Remediation Service: Offers a cloud-based service that automates security policy enforcement with on-demand or scheduled scanning and automatic remediation of web application vulnerabilities.
  • Barracuda Backup Appliance Upgrade: Provides customers with increased backup storage capacity.

Barracuda today has a network that includes more than 1,000 employees, 5,000 partners and offices in 15 countries. Overall, the company supports more than 150,000 organizations worldwide.
