Global Remote Desktop Market Sees 15% Growth: Report

The global remote desktop software market continues to grow, spurred on by increasing remote work and an increasingly online world population.

According to The Business Research Company's Remote Desktop Software Global Market Report 2023, the global remote desktop software market size grew from $2.2 billion in 2022 to $2.6 billion in 2023 at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of more than 15%. The remote desktop software market share is expected to grow to $4.7 billion in 2027 at a CAGR of more than 15%, the report said.

Remote access has also been increasingly adopted in the wake of the global COVID-19 pandemic.

Growing Internet Accessiblity

As hard as it may be to believe, some parts of the world still aren’t online – but that is changing as the internet becomes more widely used to offer services. About 63% of the world’s total population currently uses the internet – about 5.07 billion people – according to research from DataReportal.

Internet users continued to grow too, with the data indicating that the world's connected population grew by more than 170 million in the past 12 months.

Major remote desktop companies are focusing on using cloud technology to enable real-time management of all devices for performance, reliability, and security, the authors of the Business Research Company report said. Moreover, many of those companies are turning to strategic collaborations and acquisitions to extend their reach and improve their financial strength, according to the authors.

Remote Desktop Management

ChannelE2E has tracked many of these deals, including the July 2021 acquisition of Teradici by PC and printer manufacturer HP; and the January 2022 deal that saw IT asset management software provider PDQ.com acquire SmartDeploy, a provider of remote management software for Microsoft Windows-based PCs.

According to remote desktop software market analysis, Asia-Pacific was the largest region in the remote desktop software market, accounting for 35.9% of the global market in 2022. It was followed by North America, Western Europe, and other regions. Going forward, the fastest growing regions in the remote desktop software market will be the Asia-Pacific and North America, the study’s authors assert.
