9. Pivotal Software Momentum: Pivotal Software, largely owned by Dell, says Q1 2019 revenue grew 28 percent to $155.7 million. The company also had a GAAP net loss of $32.5 million -- though that was smaller than the $51.5 million GAAP net loss from Q1 last year. Pivotal's software allows enterprises to modernize their applications across multiple cloud environments.
8. Backup and Data Protection: Rubrik has released version 4.2 of its Alta Cloud Data Management platform. The software offers a single control plane for data across private clouds, public clouds, and traditional data center workloads. New capabilities include more cloud-native AWS EC2 support, along with support for IBM AIX and Solaris workloads.
7. Application Performance Management: Riverbed has upgraded its SteelCentral application performance management (APM) and monitoring solution. It features new integration between SteelCentral and Riverbed Xirrus Wi-Fi access points. The goal: Monitor and improve end user experience, infrastructure, application, and network performance.
6. Vertical Markets: CompuCom Systems, a division of Office Depot, has launched an in-aisle, self-service vending solution for retailers. The Point-of-Purchase Digital Vending system delivers a great customer experience while driving down potential product thefts, the company asserts.
