13. AT&T and Time Warner Merger: A federal judge has approved the AT&T's $85 billion buyout of Time Warner, clearing the way for technology companies and media companies to explore mergers that scale against Netflix and other digital giants.

12. Qualcomm Data Center Chips: Qualcomm will not exit the market for data center chips, an executive from the company asserts. Rumors about the alleged market exit have swirled in recent months.

11. Network Functions Virtualization: VMware has announced VMware vCloud NFV-OpenStack Edition 3.0, the next generation of the network functions virtualization (NFV) platform for communications service providers (CSPs). 10. Cisco Systems and ISVs: Cisco Systems has released new developer capabilities across its intent-based networking platform. Cisco claims the tools empower 500,000 developers, 60,000 partners and three million network engineers to innovate upon the platform.

9. Pivotal Software Momentum: Pivotal Software, largely owned by Dell, says Q1 2019 revenue grew 28 percent to $155.7 million. The company also had a GAAP net loss of $32.5 million -- though that was smaller than the $51.5 million GAAP net loss from Q1 last year. Pivotal's software allows enterprises to modernize their applications across multiple cloud environments.

8. Backup and Data Protection: Rubrik has released version 4.2 of its Alta Cloud Data Management platform. The software offers a single control plane for data across private clouds, public clouds, and traditional data center workloads. New capabilities include more cloud-native AWS EC2 support, along with support for IBM AIX and Solaris workloads.

7. Application Performance Management: Riverbed has upgraded its SteelCentral application performance management (APM) and monitoring solution. It features new integration between SteelCentral and Riverbed Xirrus Wi-Fi access points. The goal: Monitor and improve end user experience, infrastructure, application, and network performance.

6. Vertical Markets: CompuCom Systems, a division of Office Depot, has launched an in-aisle, self-service vending solution for retailers. The Point-of-Purchase Digital Vending system delivers a great customer experience while driving down potential product thefts, the company asserts.

5. AWS & Kubernetes Monitoring: Datadog has confirmed general availability of its monitoring service for Amazon Elastic Container Service for Kubernetes (Amazon EKS).

4. MSPs and Office 365 Migrations: AMI-Partners says Office 365 migrations are a prime opportunity for MSPs. Um, 2012 wants this headline back.

3. Partner Program: DefendX Software has launched their new DefendX True Partner Program. The company's technology manages the files and storage resources of more than 20 million users, DefendX asserts.
