11. Oracle Protests Pentagon Cloud Strategy: Oracle has filed a formal protest against the Pentagon's plan to award a massive cloud services contract to only one company. Many pundits believe Amazon Web Services (AWS) is poised to win the deal. Oracle alleges that the Pentagon will face vendor lock-in and slowing innovation, and should instead embrace a multi-cloud strategy.
10. AWS Cloud Consulting: DXC Technology and Amazon Web Services have announced a multi-year, global agreement to build a new multi-billion dollar DXC - AWS Integrated Practice. The joint effort will deliver IT migration, application transformation, and business innovation to global Fortune 1000 clients, DXC and AWS assert.
9. Microsoft Azure and Data Protection: Acronis has inked a deeper strategic partnership with Microsoft. The deal delivers deeper integration of Acronis’ data protection products with Microsoft Azure cloud services, the company says.
8. Momentum - Partner Program: Nyansa, which develops user performance management technology, has added 10 solution providers to its Voyers channel partner program. The new names include World Wide Technology (WWT), SHI and Presidio, among others.
7. Financial Results - New Relic: The cloud monitoring and application performance management (APM) company says Q1 2019 revenues were $108.2 million, up from $80.1 million for the first quarter of fiscal 2018.
6. Funding - Performance Monitoring: Apica Systems, a performance monitoring and testing solutions provider, has raised in $12.7 million in new funding by the existing investors Industrifonden, SEB Venture Capital, Oxx and KTH Chalmers Capital. Apica was founded in 2005 in Stockholm, Sweden, and now has offices in New York, Los Angeles and London.
5. Partnership - Multi-Cloud Governance: Smartronix and CloudHealth Technologies are partnering to promote a multi-cloud cost management and governance platform optimized specifically for Smartronix managed Cloud Assured Services offerings.
4. Talent - SD-WAN Channel Leadership: Silver Peak has named Michael O’Brien to lead the company’s Global SD-WAN Channel Program as VP of worldwide channel sales. Also, Doug Woodley now leads a newly created enterprise sales organization as VP of North America enterprise sales.
3. Talent - Systems Integrator: Telerent Leasing Corporation has named Jeff Davis as CEO for its Avidex Industries and Digital Networks Group (DNG) divisions -- which provide collaborative communications, audio/visual systems integration and design services.
2. M&A - MSSPs: ADT Inc. has acquired Secure Designs Inc. (SDI), a major MSSP that offers managed firewall services. SDI works closely with SonicWall and Fortinet, among other technology companies.
