10. Cisco Rebound: Cisco Systems expects current quarter revenues to grow a bit -- a sign that the company's aggressive expansion from hardware infrastructure toward software and subscription services is taking hold. Revenues have dropped for seven consecutive quarters, but Cisco expects to reverse that decline in the company's current quarter, CEO Chuck Robbins told analysts yesterday. Among the company's major shining stars: The AppDynamics acquisition -- which addresses application performance monitoring (APM) and management. Plus, an emerging partnership with ConnectWise -- and that company's MSP base -- could help Cisco to regain traction in the SMB sector.

8. Software-Driven Service Providers: Microsoft Channel Chief Gavriella Shuster has offered new guidance for building the apps of the future. The messaging is similar to that of CA Technologies, which is evangelizing software factories of the future during its CA World conference this week in Las Vegas. 7. Government Cloud Services: Synnex is now an authorized dealer of Microsoft Azure Government. The approval sets the stage for Synnex and its partners to more easily move government to Azure.
6. AWS Partner: Cohesity, which develops hyperconverged secondary storage, has extended Cohesity DataPlatform Cloud Edition to run on Amazon Web Services (AWS).
5. Blockchain: A healthy 34 percent of midmarket companies plan to use blockchain for storing and securing digital records, according to a Deloitte survey.
4. Training Services: Ingram Micro today announced its “Training-Development-as-a-Service” program, which includes such Flexible Integrated Training tools as FIT LIVE, 3D learning and lab environments, as well as FIT Game-Based Learning. Developed, delivered and managed by Ingram Micro, the new service offering "empowers IT vendors to address the channel’s growing ask and need for more e-learning, e-training and partner enablement resources," the distributor said.
3. Network Monitoring: SingleHop, a provider of on-demand hosted private clouds and managed cloud services, will leverage ThousandEyes for network intelligence and greater visibility "beyond its five data centers in North America and Europe, the companies say.
2. Financial Business Continuity: More than 40 percent of business owners don't have a financial backup plan in place in the event of an emergency, according to a Reliant Funding survey. Among those with a plan in place, the typical company has between $10,000 and $25,000 in emergency savings...
