Managed services providers (MSPs) continue to move deeper into the business intelligence, analytics and IoT markets. The latest example: Logicalis, a global MSP, has acquired Lantares, a Spanish company that specializes in analytics and business solutions, the companies have confirmed.

Financial details were not disclosed.

Based in Madrid, Lantares has 40 employees, nearly 200 customers and 6,000 end users under contract. The company specializes in Business Intelligence Analytics projects in such areas as reporting, mobility, budgeting, big data and more. Moreover, Lantares holds the highest IBM Analytics certifications in Spain.

Logicalis is a $1.5 billion MSP that employs over 4,000 people worldwide. Close partners include Cisco, HP, IBM, CA Technologies, NetApp, Microsoft, Oracle, VMware and ServiceNow.

Logicalis seems to be addressing analytics and IoT (Internet of Things) opportunities on a region by region basis. For instance, Logicalis UK acquired Trovus in 2015. Through the Lantares deal, Logicalis plans to replicate its consultancy sales approach and business analytics practice from the UK to Spain, according to CEO Mark Rogers.

Logicalis also has a major managed services footprint in the U.S., though we’re checking to see if or how the company has addressed BI and IoT opportunities locally.
