MCA Acquires Motorola Partner Crosspoint Communications
Mobile Communications America (MCA), backed by private equity, has acquired Crosspoint Communications, a full-service wireless integrator and fellow Motorola Solutions channel partner. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Founded in 1988, MCA is one of Motorola Solutions’ largest channel partners and provides communications solutions and services across North America.
Crosspoint, which has operated for more than 22 years, has locations in Texas, Colorado, and Arizona. The company, originally named DFW Communications, was named a Motorola Solutions partner in 1996. It offers design, installation, and maintenance of two-way voice and data communications and now has 120 employees across nine locations.
Craig Sikes, COO of Crosspoint, commented on the deal:
“We are excited to leverage the MCA footprint and increase our portfolio of solutions to better serve our customers and employees. Our common culture of putting service first makes this a perfect fit.”
Vince Foody, CEO of MCA, also commented:
“We are excited for Crosspoint Communications to join the MCA family. The additional capabilities and geographic footprint extend the services offered by MCA and strengthen our market presence as a national full-service solutions partner. Crosspoint has an outstanding reputation, excellent technical, sales and support staff and aligns well with our Service-First DNA culture.”
MCA’s Private Equity Backer
MCA itself was bought by New York City-area private equity firm called Sentinel Capital Partners earlier this year.
Sentinel typically invests in companies at the lower end of the midmarket. The firm is also known for investing in management buyouts, recapitalizations, corporate divestitures, and going-private transactions of established businesses with EBITDA of up to $65 million.
Prior to the Sentinel deal, MCA was owned by WJ Partners, who acquired the Spartanburg, South Carolina company in 2013. The company would go on to complete 16 add-on acquisitions and grow to more than 500 employees across 41 locations in seven states.
The addition of Crosspoint’s resources expands MCA’s geographic reach to more than 50 locations across much of the southern and southeastern United States. The firm says it plans to continue growing through acquisitions of established Motorola Solutions Partners.
