Alithya Acquires Canadian Telco’s Managed Web Services Business
The transaction includes the transfer of all TELUS Managed Web Services customers along with a small group of employees to Alithya’s existing web team, the company said. This will add to the 2,000 Alithya professionals spread across offices in Canada, the U.S., and Europe.
“The addition of this new group of experts will enhance Alithya’s current offering in web solutions and enable us to expand our customer base and thereby strengthen our positioning in the highly-competitive web services market,” said Paul Raymond, president and CEO of Alithya.
TELUS is one of the top three players in the highly competitive Canadian telecommunications market, going up against giants Rogers and Bell. TELUS and Alithya have a history of working together. In 2015, TELUS acquired a 20 percent stake in Quebec-based Alithya.
Alithya was founded in 1992 but increased dramatically in size in March of this year when it merged with Delaware-based Edgewater Technology. The new incarnation of the company was created with a focus on finance, insurance, telecommunications, energy, manufacturing, retail & distribution, transportation, healthcare, and government services.
Alithya says this most recent deal will allow it to offer a new range of digital services including user experience and ergonomics (UX) services, graphic design, usability testing, informational, collaborative and transactional website development, business development, customized applications (web and mobile), digital marketing, and search engine optimization (SEO).
