Network, Application Monitoring Acquisition: Accedian Buys Performance Vision
Accedian Networks, a provider of performance assurance solutions, has acquired Performance Vision. The deal could help enterprise-class service providers to bolster their application and network performance monitoring (APM & NPM) services. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Performance Vision’s main expertise involves management tools that enable users to track, maintain, and visualize network and application performance in real-time. Watch for Accedian’s SkyLight active monitoring platform to gain those types of capabilities down the road.
Accedian also continues to bolster its executive ranks. Key names to know include VP of Global Enterprise and Channels Sergio Bea, along with CMO and Chief Strategy Officer Giovani Richard Piasentin.
Demand for network- and application-centric monitoring continues to grow. Enterprises this year will spend roughly US$2.8 billion on those services to address those needs, IDC predicts.
“As virtualization and hybrid cloud applications continue to be deployed at an accelerated pace, the interdependence of network and application performance increases significantly,” said Bea. “The ability to see the entire digital infrastructure uniformly—from end-user to multiple data centers, clouds, and SaaS applications—fills a visibility gap that otherwise threatens digital transformation projects’ success, speed, return on investment (ROI), and business value.”
Performance Vision launched in 2004, and now supports more than 400 enterprise customers worldwide.
Still, the company faces plenty of competition. Key names to know include Cisco Systems AppDynamics, New Relic, Data Dog, Dynatrace, BMC and CA Technologies, among many others.
The sector also is attracting veteran MSP industry talent. For instance, LiveAction recently hired Datto veteran Brooks Borcherding as president.
