Telecom and technology distribution master agent MicroCorp has acquired Open Spectrum -- which now becomes the buyer's new cloud division led by OpenSpectrum CEO Sean Patrick Tario. Financial terms were not disclosed.

The new Cloud Services Division specializes in colocation, hosted, hybrid, cloud, security, Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), hosted desktop, and DRaaS solutions. The division draws on Open Spectrum’s experience involving complex risk assessments, TCO (total cost of ownership), and security audits of both owned and third-party hosted infrastructure environments, the company said.

MicroCorp already distributes data, voice, Unified Communications, SD-WAN and data center services. This deal expands the company's capabilities, bringing consultative sales expertise to its partners based on marketplace intelligence, proprietary training, and marketing resources from Open Spectrum, the company asserts.

The deal follows a two-year relationship in which MicroCorp and Open Spectrum provided consulting services under their Solutions Alliance program.

“We are now taking this proven model to a new level by bringing Open Spectrum into the MicroCorp family and creating a dedicated Cloud Services Division, helping our partners to transform their businesses with confidence in this rapidly evolving business landscape,” said MicroCorp president, Phil Keenan, in a prepared statement.
