MSP Pricing – How Much Should We Charge for Managed Services?

Answer: As a managed services provider (MSP), you should pursue engagements that generate at least $2,500 per customer per month. On a per-seat basis, you should offer solutions and support that costs at least $160 per user per month, according to Service Leadership Inc. (Best in class IT service providers charge closer to $180 per user per month.) Those figures, based on aggregated data from Service Leadership Inc., hold true regardless of region, CEO Paul Dippell says. MSPs and VARs, of course, should consider what solutions to offer within that $160 per user per month pricing model.

The figures are meant as general guides, ChannelE2E notes. Pricing and services offered can vary greatly. During HTG Peer Groups‘ IT Channel Summit in September 2016, several MSPs mentioned that they’re charting about $95 per user per month. The MSPs didn’t disclose which services are included.

The most important step likely involves calculating your costs. For tips on that, contact HTG, Service Leadership Inc. or TruMethods.
