SolarWinds Service Desk vs ServiceNow for IT Service Management

SolarWinds CEO Kevin Thompson

SolarWinds plans to launch SolarWinds Service Desk in the second quarter of 2019, with the intention of “disrupting” the IT service management market, according to CEO Kevin Thompson.

Original ChannelE2E story from April 24, 219: The product is based on SolarWinds’ pending Samanage acquisition, announced earlier this month. The software works closely with Salesforce CRM, and could be positioned against ServiceNow in midmarket and enterprise accounts.

The wildcard: We’re checking to see if SolarWinds Service Desk will be positioned against PSA (professional services automation) software like ConnectWise Manage, Datto’s Autotask PSA, Kaseya BMS and other ticketing software systems in the MSP software market.

In a prepared statement within SolarWinds’ earnings announcement on Wednesday, Thompson said:
