SolarWinds Buys LogicNow: Combined Companies Serve 20,000 MSPs

Amid SolarWinds’ buyout of LogicNow, the combined businesses  — to be united under the new SolarWinds MSP moniker — will support 20,000 MSPs, according to Walter Scott.

Scott, formerly CEO of LogicNow, shifts to executive VP of the newly formed SolarWinds MSP business. The organization — which essentially combines LogicNow with the N-able business — has an MSP base that supports 400,000 small and midsize businesses and 5 million endpoints, Scott estimated for ChannelE2E.

Instead of seeking an exit, Scott says LogicNow’s combination with SolarWinds provides new opportunities innovate in and around the MSP software market. N-able has a major new release on the way, he says, and the company is heads-down delivering on that.

Moreover, there are opportunities to leverage SolarWinds’ network management and virtualization management solutions in the LogicNow Max platforms. Although Scott is upbeat about the overall portfolio, he also hinted that MSPs should keep an eye on Librato (real-time cloud monitoring), Pingdom (application performance monitoring) and Papertrail (log management).

Just how big is the SolarWinds MSP business? That’s difficult to say since SolarWinds is now privately held. But overall, there are clues that the SolarWinds MSP business has more developers, sales people and support staff than any other two MSP-oriented software companies combined, two sources suggest.
