VeeamOn 2017 Live Blog: New Veeam Co-CEOs, Partner Moves
Veeam kicked off the company’s VeeamOn 2017 conference this morning in New Orleans. Among the highlights: New Co-CEOs leading the company, and new partner initiatives at the data availability and backup company.

1. Veeam Partner: Evolve IP, a cloud services company, has been awarded Platinum status in the Veeam Cloud & Service Provider (VCSP) program. Evolve IP is a fast-growing company that blends managed and cloud services through organic and M&A growth.
2. Veeam CEO Change: Veeam has promoted Peter McKay and Andrei Baronov to the position of co-CEOs, succeeding William H. Largent, who shifts to chairman of the finance & compensation committees. McKay was previously president and COO. Baronov previously was CTO. We’ll share more details as the conference unfolds.
3. Growth & SMB, Commercial, Enterprise Segmentation: Veeam plans to double-down on cloud and enterprise growth while doing no harm to the company’s SMB and channel business. In fact, 100 percent of the company’s revenue is partner-driven. Strategic alliances also will be key to that growth, Veeam indicated. The company previously segmented between small and large companies by drawing a line at the 1,000 employee mark. But now, Veeam considers SMB is now 250 employees and below; the top 1,100 accounts are enterprise; and commercial is everything in between.
4. Competition: Veeam wants to displace Veritas, Commvault, Dell EMC and MicroFocus for a $3 billion market share grab. “Competitors are all flat or declining but at some point they’ll change so we need to make hay while the sun shines,” Veeam asserted. Moreover, Veeam wants partners to focus on all market segments — rather than carving up the market between direct sales and indirect sales, the company says.
5. Veeam Revenues: Veeam wants to grow from roughly $800 million now to $1 billion in 2018 to $1.5 billion in 2020.
6. New Offerings: Watch for new offerings to debut or be announced this week — including Veeam 10, cloud, alliances with bundled solutions, and a new Veeam packaged offering around professional services.
7. Cloud Next: Amid the shift from cloud hosted to cloud native, Veeam is focusing more on serverless computing and container availability. Amid those efforts, the company will not run its own cloud. Instead, the company continues to lean on partners and CSPs. The company claims it has 18,000 cloud providers today. I’ll double check the figure and report back as to the definition.
8. Cloud Models: Veeam is calling on partners to assist customers with “to the cloud, from the cloud and within the cloud” business availability solutions.
