Veeam Partner Program Bolsters Cloud, Professional Services, Enterprise Strategic Alliances
Veeam has unveiled multiple product and partner program enhancements to help grow the data protection company’s partner ecosystem. The multi-cloud partner moves — featuring closer strategic relationships with Cisco Systems, HP Enterprise, NetApp and Nutanix — take aim at Veritas, Commvault, Dell EMC and MicroFocus in the enterprise data protection market.
During keynotes today at VeeamOn 2017 in New Orleans, company leaders told partners the $800 million company will continue to sell 100 percent through the channel, while strengthening its strategic alliances in a march toward $1.5 billion in revenues by 2020. Maintaining a consistent tone, Veeam officials once again said they would not lose track of partners in the SMB sector, even as the company encourages partners to pursue midmarket and enterprise opportunities.
Veeam Partner and Product Updates
Among the major moves Veeam disclosed today:
- A New Veeam Availability Console and Agents will allow partners to migrate, manage and protect workloads that shift to Amazon Web Services and Microsoft Azure.
- New Veeam CDP and vCloud Director integration to protect mission-critical applications while strengthening disaster recovery as a service (DRaaS), the company said.
- Tape as a Service (you read it right) to help customers meet compliance requirements for archival and retention, Veeam asserted.
- An upgraded Veeam Backup for Microsoft Office 365 — including new multi-tenancy, multi-repository and automation capabilities, the company said.
- A new Veeam Cloud and Service Provider Directory to connect VARs and VCSPs.
- A new Veeam Accredited Service Provider push to help partners generate professional services revenues.

What Makes Veeam Unique?
Veeam got its start as a backup platform for VMware a decade ago. But the company has since expanded to support Microsoft Hyper-V while building out an overall platform strategy for business availability.
Roughly 47,000 Veeam ProPartners and 15,000 VCSPs now offer backup and disaster recovery services, including 2,900 partners that use Veeam Cloud Connect to offer backup and disaster recovery in the cloud, Veeam asserts.
Instead of launching its own cloud infrastructure, Veeam defers to partners to build and run their own clouds for end-customers. The idea is to deliver “to the cloud, from the cloud and within the cloud” business availability opportunities for all partners, instead of competing with partners.
Veeam Goes Enterprise vs. Dell EMC
Veeam has overhauled its channel sales strategy to pursue SMB, commercial and enterprise customers. The company is doubling down on existing relationships with Cisco Systems, HP Enterprise NetApp and Nutanix to disrupt enterprise storage and backup rivals like Commvault, Dell EMC, MicroFocus and Veritas, according to Veeam officials who spoke at VeeamOn today.
